If you’re new to yoga and have questions, we're here to help! See below for commonly asked questions, with helpful tips and info.

What should I wear and bring to my first yoga class?

For your first yoga class, be sure to bring a bottle of water, a towel and a yoga mat. If you don’t have these things, not to worry. We have mats and towels available to rent as well as purchase in our boutiques.
Regarding clothing attire, the more comfortable you are, the better! Because our studio rooms gets hot, you’re best to wear yoga/athletic apparel that’s designed for sweat, ideally not plain cotton.  Last, we always recommend first-timers to arrive at least 15 minutes before class to fill out a waiver, get comfortable, and go over any questions.

How do I sign up for classes?

To reserve a spot on our class schedule, you will need to create an online profile. This will be your account to use going forward, to purchase classes, make reservations and keep track of your payments. Go to the 'BOOK A CLASS' tab located on our homepage.  From there, you will be prompted to either set-up an account or log-in.  Once you’ve set up an account, you’re ready to purchase and reserve.  As classes can fill-up, we recommend reserving a spot in-advance. This will also save time once you arrive to the studio.

What is SOL Yoga's no-show/cancellation fee?

If you are unable to make it to class, please call our Concierge Team and let them know asap! If you do not cancel 12 hours before whether by phone or online, your account will be charged $25.00.

What is SOL's late/waitlist policy?

As many of our classes fill-up quickly, we encourage you to pre-register for classes either on our website or via our free mobile App By doing so, you are guaranteed a spot in the class you would like to attend.
That said, you must show-up for class at least 5 minutes before start-time otherwise you may lose your spot to another person on the waitlist.

If you cannot make it to class for whatever reason, please don't forget to cancel!  Failure to cancel for a pre-registered class 12 hours in-advance will cost you a fee of $25.00 applied to your account.

What is a good first class to try?

If you’re new to yoga, we recommend starting with our SOL FLOW class. Connecting movement and breath, this all-levels Vinyasa class is for those seeking the traditional foundations of yoga, with sequences and poses to awaken and invigorate every muscle in your body. You will leave feeling stretched, strengthened and relaxed.

Can I bring my bag or phone into the studio?

To respect the privacy of others, we recommend you store your phone and belongings in a locker outside the studio.

Do I have to be flexible to do yoga?

While flexibility is a component of yoga, you do not have to be flexible to practice it.  As you do more yoga, you will naturally become more able to move and open your body in new ways, which is very beneficial for bodies of all sizes and shapes, athleticism levels and the like. Along with becoming more flexible physically, yoga will help your mental flexibility too.  Meaning, you’ll be better equipped to focus and breathe your way through life’s every day challenges like deadlines, traffic or social media overload.

Why is the yoga studio heated and will this make the class more challenging?

We use infrared heat to warm our studio as it’s proven to go the deepest into our muscles and joints, providing gentle, effective detoxification.  For most classes, the studio will be heated to between 90 - 100 F. Unlike traditional ‘hot yoga’, infrared heat isn’t blasted from a vent, but penetrates the room via heated panels.  It allows you to stretch your muscle fibers and tendons and avoid injury.  It also increases circulation, boosts your immune system and burns more calories. If you’re new to infrared heat, we recommend you arrive hydrated, drink water during class if needed, and go at your own pace. Read more about infrared heat's health benefits here.

What are some of the benefits of yoga?

How do we count the ways yoga will change not just your body, your life?!  Along with increasing flexibility, strength and focus, a regular yoga practice (at least 3x/week) has been shown to improve the symptoms of many chronic diseases such as arthritis, diabetes, and thyroid disorders. But it goes beyond the mat too! Yoga helps us become more at ease with life’s ‘challenges’.  It gives us a sense of calm we can ignite when facing stressful situations.  Like our founder Catherine DeFrancesco says, with yoga, there’s no longer a need to honk your horn or experience road rage!  Like a “secret of life”, yoga is the ticket to a happier, more joy-full, life.

How often should I practice yoga?

As often as you can is ideal – but every one’s schedules are different.  To really experience yoga’s benefits, 2-3 days a week can be sufficient.  On its own, or to complement your other workouts such as strength training or running, with dedicated practice and commitment, you will see and feel yoga’s amazing benefits.
